Justin was born and raised in Fort Worth, Texas.  He grew up listening to a wide variety of musical genres that spanned multiple generations, but his love was, and has always been, country music– George Strait, Hank Jr., Merle Haggard, Travis Tritt, Alan Jackson, Garth Brooks, Randy Travis, the list goes on and on. Justin listened and sang along to whatever was on the radio, and at the ripe ol’ age of 32, he taught himself how to play guitar, put a band together and began playing music throughout the great State of Texas. Justin’s first EP was officially released in July 2015 and his second EP was released in June 2016.  You can learn more about his music by visiting his website:  www.JustinMason.com

Aside from music, Justin served five years as a K9 police officer in the United States Navy, and after completing his honorable service, he came back to Texas to earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of North Texas and a master’s degree from the University of Texas at Arlington. He served the City of Arlington, Texas as a police officer for six years and left the police department in 2012 to start a Real Estate company with his wife.  They have 3 beautiful children and reside in north Texas.

Vic was born and raised in a no-stoplight town in rural Illinois.  In a family of musicians, he first picked up a violin at the age of 3.  After seeing much of the world as a very young solo classical violinist, Vic decided to forego further musical education in order to attend the US Naval Academy at Annapolis and become a United States Marine.  While serving at posts in Virginia, North Carolina, and abroad, Vic expanded his musicianship and excelled as a fiddler and multi-instrumentalist, playing in bands, worship services, and with other musicians all around the world in his free time.  After leaving the Marine Corps, Vic settled in Texas with his wife and fiddle.

Justin and Vic started this podcast because they, simply put, have a love for good country music and wanted to hear more in-depth stories from true country musicians, songwriters, artists and industry professionals.  There have been great platforms in the past with entertaining interviews and storytelling, but never a place for true country professionals to regularly share their experiences, and for the public to get familiar with all of the talented people across the business via those stories.  So Justin and Vic decided to provide just that.  Seeking out the professionals who create what we love, the True Country Podcast is the best and only place to truly know the music you hear.
